Senior System Operations Engineer Flight Operations Segment

For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Senior System Operations Engineer Flight Operations Segment. Tasks and Responsibilities You will provide support to the development and operation of the Copernicus Sentinel3 Ground Segment, as well as its evolution. Main duties will include the support to System operations in a realtime operations environment Manual and Automated system and satellite operations including planning and scheduling Flight operations segment monitoring and reporting Communications systems operations Security operations Ensuring Business Continuity System Evolutions. You will be responsible for the definition and or maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to system operations and the interfaces of the key systems within the Sentinel3 ground segment, in accordance with the established EUMETSAT Operations Department configuration management and quality assurance practices. You will acquire and maintain a Systemwide view of the Sentinel3 ground segment. In particular, you will maintain operational expertise on all aspects of the FOS. You will review any planned changes to the system configurations for the Sentinel3 ground segment, support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations and will provide support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent Sentinel3 satellites. You will interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. You will perform the following routine operations tasks Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison and coordination with the ground segment facility operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes, etc. Production and maintenance of operations documentation Joint Operations Rules and Procedures, Operations Interface Control Documents etc. Interface and coordination with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standby oncall support as system operations engineer, on an as needed basis. This will be coordinated through the normal oncall process Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing and coordination of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolution mitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Processing and coordination of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of system upgrades and evolutions, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team. Requirements Essentials In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline you should have at least 5 years of experience of spacecraft and related ground segment operations, in particular Experience of Ground Segment System Operations to support Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3Axis Stabilised Spacecraft during operation preparation, LEOP, commissioning and routine operations phases Development and maintenance of complex operational ground systems, preferably for Earth Observation spacecraft FOS Engineering support for the development of major upgrades new ground systems in a high availability 247 operational environment Satellite monitoring and control systems Operational Monitoring of near real time data flows in large computer networks Full development cycle of large systems, from the definition of requirements to system design and operations Investigation into anomalies, their documentation, classification and correction mitigation, participation in Anomaly Review Boards and, where applicable, Operations Incident investigation and review activities Familiarity with the ECSS standards Experience with development and validation of operational ground segment and associated operations procedures for nominal and contingencyrecovery cases Familiarity with procedure Change control and configuration management of ground segment operational systems. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language, knowledge of French being an advantage. Desirables Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage to have experience with some of the following Definition, management and traceability of complex requirements structure experience in the use of tools e.g. DOORS Definition of operations interfaces and processes with external partners Automated operations Development of system analysis, reporting and monitoring tools Space Ground Interface definition Ground Stations operation and maintenance Experience with modem satellite MC systems e.g. SCOS2K control system Experience of development, maintenance and operation of medium to large size applications Experience and proven application of development using Java, Perl, Oracle, operating system scripting languages, and XML technologies Experience of modem system architectures in the area of realtime data services and file based data delivery Communications protocols e.g. TCPIP, MBSS Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems CCSDS formats Altimetry imaging and or sounding instrumentation for Earth Observation spacecraft Experience in development of analysis and reporting tools. System and Ground Segment VV Consultant

This is a permanent system engineering position, contributing to the verification and validation of the EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation programme. The work is related to the definition, specification and development of test tools and the generation of test data which are required to support system and ground segment VV activities. You will be placed on assignment based in Darmstadt Germany for several years. The starting time requirement is as soon as possible. EUMETSAT is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The role will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with a focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. The key experience and attributes sought are At least 3 years of general experience with onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation. At least 3 years of handson involvement in VV activities for instrument processing chains, including production of test tools and of test data. At least 3 years of experience with software specification, design and development and relevant standards. Good skills in higher programming languages, such as Fortran, CC, Java. Knowledge of the following would be advantageous Direct involvement in preparation of test plans, specifications, procedures and reports. Candidates should possess a University degree or equivalent. A vacancy for a Ground Segment Tender Manager for future Earth Observation Programmes mfhas arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. Within the Bidding and Future Programmes department for ground Observation and Navigation systems, you will be responsible for one or more tenders for major Earth observation systems for Export clients. Your post may develop towards the management of ground segment projects within the Project division. This position requires security clearance or needs to be eligible for an accreditation by the recognised authorities. You must ensure the coordination of the tender, consisting of the technical and functional definition part, the drafting of the tender, the production of the quotation and the risk analysis. You will personally produce a significant proportion of the tender and you will join an extensive bidding team that may consist of a wide range of Airbus Defence and Space entities satellites, geoinformation services, etc. and major industrial partners. You must assist the tender manager in the negotiation phases with the different partners and clients, and must take account of constraints arising from the ground segment product policy and partnership agreements. This role will involve travel for business once a month, worldwide and therefore you must be able to travel accordingly.
