Working as a consultant system engineer on the design and implementation of a complex ground segment for one of Europes flagship space projects for the 21st century. The European Polar System Second Generation EPSSG will be challenging programme requiring the best engineers Europe can muster. The ground segment system engineering team will handle the complex task of stitching together major functional elements and ensuring endtoend performance with large volumes of data flow. Working to established standards and procedures ECSS and using advanced tools for management of complex systems DOORS, consultants will be responsible for defining and controlling interfaces between functional elements, verifying that high level system requirements are flowed down and implemented correctly, system design integrity is maintained and optimised throughout the development process. Several positions are available to experienced system engineers with the correct background and qualifications. The profile of candidates we are seeking is as follows Qualified to higher university degree, Masters or PhD level in engineering or science. At least 5 years professional experience in space programmes. Experience in the design of complex space systems and the process of system design. Experience in control and management of interfaces in large systems. Experience with the preparation and use of documents used to define system requirements and interfaces including methods and tools. Working as a team player in a multinational environment. Good communications skills using English as a working language. Project planning and control MSproject. Additionally, experience in the following would be considered an advantage Earth Observation LEO satellites. Experience with DOORS Experience with CORE We are seeking employees who are motivated and flexible who are available to start work in Germany in autumn 2013 or early 2014. Several positions are open with preferred start dates of October 2013 or January 2014. The duration of the initial contract will be 18 months extendable. Applicants must be EU citizens or have a valid work and residence permit for Germany. Security, identity and reference checks of the candidates are part of the selection process.

The typical tasks and responsibilities include to define and maintain the system specification tree and baseline, analyse new versions of lower level technical documents for coherence with system and incorporation into system baseline, to act as book captain for the System Requirements Document SRD to collate and analyse comments, proposed changes from internal and external reviews and making recommendations on newupdated requirements, to maintain the traceability of system requirements to higher and lower level specifications using DOORs, to provide support to establishment and documentation of an internal change control process for system requirements, to provide support for the preparation and execution of internal and external reviews, to prepare inputs for the Configuration Control Board CCB, to ensure system level technical specifications adhere to the configuration management plan CMP and the documentation of management plans DMP. All applicants should have experience of requirements management using formal configuration control proceduresprocesses and of writing technical requirements preferably to ECSS standards along with experience of establishing and maintaining traceability between different levels of technical specifications. Additional assets would be experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO and with DOORs.
