We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a JasonCS EndtoEnd Instrument Chains Performance Engineer You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Your Tasks The activities for the selected keyperson will be related to overall system aspects for endtoend instrument chains, i.e. involving the space segment platform and instruments as well as the ground segment. The keyperson will provide support in the area of system and mission performance engineering and onground instrument data processing engineering. Typical activities to be undertaken by the key person are Followingup performance requirements, allocation and budgeting performed by space segment and instrument providers Following up the definition and development of the onground instrument data processing specifications e.g. algorithms and product formats Following up the development of the onground instrument data processing systems, test tools and test data Followingup and reviewing definition of approach for modelling of system performances, space segment andor instrument providers review of adequacy of related performance modelling tools Contributing to the preparation and analysis of the system performance budgets, collecting input from space segment, instruments and ground processing segment reporting any noncompliances and following up resolution Contributing to the consolidation and maintenance of the system requirements, including tracing to space segment, instrument andor ground segment requirements and tracking of the status of compliance reporting any noncompliances and follow up resolution Supporting the consolidation of the verification approach for system performance requirements and contributing to the maintenance of the related verification matrix Contributing to the assessment of the ground data processing algorithms and CalVal algorithms developed as part of the JasonCS ground segment and confirm that they allow meeting the System Performance Requirements reporting any noncompliance and follow up resolution Supporting the validation of products and ground data processing algorithms Following up the verification, integration and acceptance of the onground instrument data processing elements Contributing to regular reviews of System, Space Segment, Instrument and Ground Segment documentation Participate in formal reviews and technical meetings at System, Space Segment, Instrument and Ground Segment level Providing input for support preparation of documentation for System and Ground Segment level reviews. Most activities will involve interactions with instrument, science and ground segment teams, and also, as relevant for the work, with engineers at partner agencies. Your Profile The KeyPerson shall have the following experience and background University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent At least 3 years of combined experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground systems, in the area of Earth observation from space in the field of endtoend mission performance analysis, budgeting and verification for spaceborne observing systems Good knowledge of relevant spaceborne observation instruments JasonCS satellites will embark a radar altimeter, a microwave radiometer, a GNSS receiver and a radiooccultation instrument. Knowledge of ground data processing algorithms and ground processing environment. The following experience would be an additional asset Experience in verifying onground instrument data processing systems Experience in development of test data sets and processor prototypes Experience in specification of operational products for earth observation missions. The KeyPerson shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the keyperson must be able to work effectively in this language. Summary An exciting opportunity for an experienced Instrument PerformanceL1b Processing Engineer to work for Telespazio VEGA onsite at ESTEC. Objective To provide engineering support to Earth Observation Missions. for Earth Observation MetOpSG Microwave Radiometers. Responsibilities Duties MetOpSG consists to two series of satellites with three satellites in each series. The industrial Phase B2CD contracts started on 1 June 2014, and PDR is ongoing. The payload of the two satellites consists of ten different instruments, including, in particular, a set of three microwave radiometers MicroWave Sounder, MWS MicroWave Imager, MWI Ice Cloud Imager, ICI. Qualifications Experience A PhD or Master degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant physical sciences, with a background in microwave radiometer instruments for remote sensing Good understanding of the overall instruments, including background in modelling of the observation techniques, endtoend performance estimation, level1b processing and instrument characterization Experience with Microwave Radiometers data processing and instrument modelling is an asset.
