For one of our main customers, EUMETSAT, we are looking for a Meteorological Product Operations Engineer to work in the Technical and Scientific Support Department as a member of the Remote Sensing and Products Division RSP. The consultant will be a member of the Atmospheric Profiling Team within RSP. Hisher responsibilities will cover the monitoring and reporting of product production and product quality in close cooperation with relevant members of other teams in RSP and of the OPS Department. The support will focus on products processed from measurements of a subset of instruments embarked on the EPS Metop and the NOAA satellites. Tasks and Responsibilities Extracting relevant information from the ATOVSAVHRR EPS processing chains and Cal Val Facility CVF to perform regular production and quality monitoring reports. The reporting intervals are daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly Performing offline analysis of product quality Implementing new or revised products into the operational product processing chains Working on improvements of the existing product quality Maintaining contact with users to obtain their feedback on product service quality Elaborating, tracking and publishing service level quality indicators Reporting anomalies in product services, contributing to their diagnosis and tracking their resolution Supporting validation of new and improved products, and the compilation of the relevant product validation reports Experience and education The candidate shall have A University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Minimum of 3 years of experience of the operational use and quality control of satellite or meteorological data. Verification of operational product processing systems Configuration control of software and data Programming in C, C and Fortran Production monitoring and reporting Quality control of satellite data and products Utilisation of products from meteorological satellites Calibration and validation of satellite products Knowledge and experience in the following areas will be an advantage Experience in the use of image processing software such as IDL or ENVI in a UNIX environment Experience in the quality control of NOAA polar satellite data, meteorological observations and Numerical Weather Prediction data Knowledge of and experience with EPS missions and instruments Experience with work under UNIXLinux operating systems Experience in the use of Scripting Languages e.g. Perl, Python, shell The consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and structured manner, heshe shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. The activity is assumed, as a baseline, to require the fulltime participation of one Consultant for the duration of the contract. For one of our main customers, EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for an Image Quality Assessment Engineering consultancy support. The candidate shall offer consultancy support to the technical and scientific activities conducted by the Image Navigation, Registration and Calibration INRC Competence Area of the Remote Sensing and Products Division RSP within the Technical and Scientific Support Department. The main activities for the INRC Competence Area are related to image navigationgeolocation, rectification, onboard, vicarious and crosscalibration. The Key person shall work as a member of the Image Quality Assessment Team of INRC supporting the mediumterm and longterm monitoring, operation and further development of Level 1 data processing systems. The Key person shall support the quality assessment and validation of the Level 1 image products for current and future GEO missions but will also provide support to current and future LEO missions in this area. Moreover, heshe shall support the development and maintenance of monitoring software for Level 1 image quality assessment as well as support the software maintenance of the operational MSG Level 1 data processing systems. This includes a significant contribution to and active participation in verification and validation test activities. In addition, the Key person may also support the development activities for the MTG and EPS SG missions. Experience and education In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have Good theoretical knowledge of satellite imagery data processing algorithms for navigation, registration and calibration and the techniques used for assessing the geometric and radiometric quality of Level 1 image products A minimum of 3 years experience in the processing and analysis of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft Significant experience of validating remote sensing products and complex remote sensing data processing systems. The Key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Fluency in English is mandatory and a working knowledge of French would be an advantage, together with good communication skills. In addition, the Key person shall have practical, demonstrable experience inwith Software engineering, in particular in algorithm software development, in a Unix environment using CC, and ideally also Python and MatlabIDL Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification. Preparation and maintenance of instrument related documents, as well as presentation material e.g. Instrument Operational Manuals Support to other Instruments Although support to MHS and NOAA instruments is the primary task of the Key person, heshe may be requested to provide a similar type of management and engineering support to the LEO Instrument Team Leader for other instruments. Required skills The Key person is required to have the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with the minimum of supervision and minimum training. The Key person shall have a university degree in engineering or physics and, as a pre requisite, a background of at least 5 years in space hardware projects possibly with Earth observation instruments. Experience in project management positions is desirable together with the ability to follow satellite level Payload AIV activities. The Key person shall also have some knowledge of PAQA processes and procedures and good general computing skills, with familiarity with Microsoft Office software Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.. Previous experience in AIVAIT and commissioning activities is regarded as advantageous along with experience of working on a collaborative programme between different partners.
