Australia's apparel imports have continued rising in the last two years, with China keeping a very strong share of the market, although slightly down in the past 5 years. The duty-free access offered since last January should support demand for Chinese apparel whereas imports from Vietnam should further surge through implementation of the CPTPP as of January this year also. Our statistical report offers a comprehensive view of Australia's overall apparel imports in the past 10 years in US$ terms. Detailed data per origin and 4-digit HS category are also released over the last 5-year period. All data are available for download.

China's share of the US apparel import market has slightly declined in the first quarter this year, as Chinese shipments were stagnating and imports from other countries were surging. Chinese imports have even experienced a double-digit decline in a large number of categories, as reflected by our statistical review comparing US apparel imports from China with shipments from Rest of the World (RoW) for every category of products, in volume, value and unit value terms. Historical data cover first quarters in the past five years, from 2014-2019.
