A large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is associated with a tropical wave. This disturbance is expected to move westward to west-northwestward at about 15 mph, and environmental conditions could be conducive for some gradual development this weekend or early next week while the system is over the tropical Atlantic well east of the Lesser Antilles. 000 ABPZ20 KNHC 082303 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 500 PM PDT Thu Oct 8 2020 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Norbert, located several hundred miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. A low pressure system located more than 1000 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula is producing a relatively small area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Due to dry air surrounding the low, environmental conditions are only somewhat conducive for development, but a tropical depression could still form while the low moves toward the west and west-southwest at about 10 mph during the next few days. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 percent. A weak area of low pressure located about 800 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. A vigorous tropical wave located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms, along with tropical-storm-force wind gusts. This disturbance is expected to move generally westward at about 15 mph over the tropical Atlantic for the next several days. Environmental conditions could become more conducive for some gradual development to occur by early next week when the system is located well east of the Lesser Antilles. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low pressure located more than 1000 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula have changed little in organization today. However, environmental conditions appear conducive for further development, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the next few days while the low drifts northwestward through this evening, and then turns westward by Friday. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent. Another area of low pressure centered about 700 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Development, if any, will be slow to occur over the next couple of days.
