In each case, FAA alleges shipments were not accompanied by shipping papers to indicate hazardous nature of their contents and were not marked, labeled, or packaged in accordance with the Hazardous Materials Regulations. Proposed penalties against DGI Menard Inc., Aqua-Chem, Inc., and Rust-Oleum Corp range from $54,000 to $81,669.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Friday said it has proposed civil penalties against emergency medical helicopter operator Air Methods Corp and airline Allegiant Air for failing to comply with U.S. regulations. For Air Methods, it proposed a $91,500 civil penalty for allegedly operating a Bell 407 helicopter that was overdue for an inspection, the agency said in a statement.

FAA proposes $227,500 civil penalty against AmplaChem, Inc. of Carmel, IN, for allegedly violating Hazardous Materials Regulations. FAA alleges that on April 10, 2013, AmplaChem knowingly offered an undeclared hazardous material shipment to FedEx for air transport from Carmel to Vietnam. Shipment included Boron Tribromide, a corrosive material and toxic inhalation hazard that is forbidden from being transported aboard any commercial aircraft, and 2 other corrosive substances.
