Specific Tasks The contractor will be assigned to the Ground Software Systems and Functional Verification Section of the Software Systems Division. The contractor will provide on demand expertise in activities related to EGSE systems Project such as eSail, PLATO support on the procurement, development and utilisation of EGSE systems, including problem solving, interfaces with external systems and project reviews. Project support for Ground Software Systems, such as the EarthCare Operational Scientific Ground Segment development, Level 0, 1 and 2 dataprocessing, visualisation. This includes generic software engineering, software development support, collaborative software development environment support, software acceptance compilation, installation, running tests. Support on RD studies, specifically related to the currently under development European Ground System Common Core EGSCC, which will be the basis of the future Electrical Ground Support Equipment EGSE and Mission Control Systems MCS infrastructures in Europe. Maintenance and future developments of the EGSE Reference Facility as part of the Software Systems Laboratory. This includes software builds and integration of industrial elements to the EGSE reference facility as well as the functional verification in endtoend scenarios, maintenance of an EGSE software libraryconfiguration managementlab website, evaluation of needs and generation of requirements for enhancements. Support Standardization activities in the EGSE domain e.g. E7030 Monitoring and Control Data Definition, E7032 Test and Operations Language, E7041 PUS, E1023 Space System Data Repository. Requirements A Master degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline. The candidate shall have extensive practical experience of implementing and building complex software systems in the space domain, in developing and utilizing EGSEs, in modelling monitoring and control data in compliance with the ESA monitoring and control systems legacy systems such as SCOS or future systems such as EGSCC. Knowledge of modern software engineering practices and standards applied to realtime systems. Knowledge of Space Systems and Space System Engineering is necessary. In particular experience with one or more topics such as SW development Java, Eclipse Service oriented and component based architectures OSGi, Karaf UnixLinux system administration and programming Configuration management and build of large SW projects Git, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Gradle Object Oriented design methods and corresponding tools e.g. MagicDraw Databases Oracle, Postgres, Hadoop SCOS 2000 and the SCOS 2000 MIB ICD Experience with the relevant ECSS standards particularly PUS and its tailoring An ability to work independently and to establish good working relations with ESA and industrial counterparts is essential.

Flight Software Systems Engineer

Specific Tasks Within the Flight Software Systems Section, support is provided to the JUICE Mission and in particular to the Radio Plasma and Wave Instrument RPWI which will characterize the radio emission and plasma environment of the Jupiter System. The contractor will be assigned to the Flight Software Systems Section to work for the Swedish Institute of Space Physics in Uppsala on site and will be in charge of the following initial tasks Development and validation of the software for the Radio Plasma and Wave Instrument RPWI of the ESA JUICE mission. Perform unit testing of the Instrument software. Generating and maintenance of the required software documentation. Requirements A PhD or Msc or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience with Software engineering. Programming language C and debugging skills gdb. Embedded Real Time Systems and Real Time Kernels RTEMS. Methods for validation and unit testing. The following experience is considered an asset Communication protocols SpaceWire, Simple Serial Interface SSI. Familiarity with test automation. Programming language TCL. Knowledge of PUS ECSSEST7041A Telemetry and telecommand packet utilization. Knowledge of SPARC LEON3 and multicore processor. Software Engineering tools GNULinux, Makefile, Python, gcc, git. Software Engineering Standards such as the ECSSEST40C. The contractor shall be part of the RPWI team. Because of the operational nature of the support, a proactive and flexible attitude will be required. Experience with embedded realtime software development will be an advantage.

He will be assigned to support the preparation and executions of activities related to new technologies in both Ground and Flight areas of the Software Division. The activities to support include Machine Learning applications for data processing image processing, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, support to test, intrusion, threat and malware detection, etc. Autonomous applications autonomous planning of spacecrafts, e.g. automatic selection of observation targets, automatic rendezvous with noncooperative targets, automatic landing, vehicle systems management, etc. End to end cybersecurity systems Information security system requirements analysis, architecture, and design, protection against AIenabled attacks and threat vectors Knowledge representation and reasoning, Natural Language Processing support to requirements engineering, support to spacecraft Assembly Integration Test and Validation Verification and Validation of new technologies for their use in space systems. Model Based System Software Engineering Ensuring the digital continuity starting from highlevel system models down to automatic code generation. The support will be provided to both internal RD and external projects activities. Requirements Applicants for this post should have a Master degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, together with a good experience in the development of software applications related to the specific tasks of the position. Results orientation and relationship management are considered important. The candidate should be familiar with modern software engineering practices and tools Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence technologies is mandatory. Software practical experience, Object Oriented design methods, databases, compilers, Linux, Windows as well as several programming and scripting languages such as C, C, Python, R, Haskell, Java is mandatory. Knowledge of modelling tools e.g. Matlab and libraries e.g. TensorFlow is an important asset. Knowledge in ModelBased Software production, test processes and associated tools e.g. Capella, Magic Draw, Enterprise Architect, OnBoard Software Reference Architecture, TASTE is an asset. Knowledge in software standards space ECSS, aircrafts, train, automotive is interesting. A proactive and cando attitude is expected.
