This is a permanent position, calling for experience of high availability cluster environments, running Oracle under Solaris and Linux operating systems. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years. Candidates should ideally be available to start in February 2016. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English and fluency in English is essential. The role involves tasks related to the development and maintenance of storage and computing systems with special focus on backup, archive and retrieval services, such as Monitoring facility services, computing, storage, backup and archive performance, investigation into hardware and software problems and performance of relevant corrective actions Ensuring that after hardware or software failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backuparchive procedures Provision of standbyoncall support Provision of support, as required, to critical operations The duties include the administration and operation of central archive systems and tape storage components, maintenance of offsite storage, inventory and support of the operation of the storage services.
