This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Ground Segment Systems Operations Engineer 162130 Job Description We are looking for a Ground Systems Operations Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT. You would be working within the System Engineering and Projects Division supporting system engineering activities for Operational systems. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team interacting with operational programmes and future programmes and will support the SEP Division with the following activities Supporting the consolidation, evolution and maintenance of the Ground Segment reference architecture. Supporting the assessment of impacts to the Ground Segment of changes required for operational systems, resulting from evolution and maintenance activities. This includes analysing engineering change requests on the operational ground segments supporting the investigation of anomalies on the ground segment, thanks to the endtoend view and understanding of the systems coordinating with different teams in order to assess the impact of the requested changes attending daily operationrelated meetings in order to remain uptodate with the progress of the activities. Supporting the update and maintenance of the documentation of operational ground segments as follow up actions stemming from agreed evolution and changes of the systems. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline Experience in the field of systems engineering, maintenance and operations of ground segment systems Experience in maintenance and evolution lifecycle Knowledge of the systems making up a ground segment, their interrelations, interactions and understand the implications that making changes in one system have on others. Desirable Skills and Experience Familiarity with formal architecture frameworks e.g., MODAF, TOGAF, DODAF will be a valuable appreciated asset. Definition, management and traceability of requirements with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. Our client, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. One of their objectives is to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. They are seeking a Communications and Networks Systems Engineer to be part of the Comms team supporting all phases of communications system specification, design, development, operations and evolution for all comms systems. The Consultant shall have the following mandatory skills and experience at least five years experience in the area of specification, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of Communications systems Internet Protocol network design, specification, documentation, testing, fault finding, and evolution. Indepth knowledge of Cisco design methodologies, technologies and solutions ideally including enterprise WLAN infrastructure. It will be beneficial if the key person holds current Cisco certifications or equivalent Familiarity with the trend to virtualise the above technologies and to recommend and justify when and why such approaches may be optimal, in addition to then deploying and supporting them e.g. SDNs. Security skills associated with securing the communication system e.g. next generation firewalls, VPN, intrusion detection and prevention, strong authentication. Skills appropriate to associated domains e.g. computing clientserver, storage, dissemination. Network performance monitoring in terms of both the network and the applicationssystems it supports in terms of supporting fault finding, documentation, performance tuning, capacity and configuration management etc. Familiarity with IP based Telephony Systems The working language is English.
