We are currently looking for a Meteorological Product Software Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Meteorological Product Software Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. In this role you will be involved in the design, implementation and validation of new product algorithms. You will have the following responsibilities Analysis of product change proposals Design, implementation and validation of updatednew algorithms Documentation of changes related to product updates Preparation of technical notes on product implementation issues Development, maintenance and update of product generation monitoring software and the corresponding database Monitoring and operating the product generation facilities Visualisation and analysis of geophysical products. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree relevant discipline, such as computer science, physics, mathematics or remote sensing Several years experience in operational product generation from satelliteremote sensing data Experience in validation of geophysical products from satellite data Working experience with Algorithm software development using FORTRAN 9095 in a Unix environment Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification Source code control systems, preferably Subversion Anomaly correction and configuration management processes Python and IDL programming languages Common meteorological data formats, like BUFR, CAP, GRIB, HDF5, and netCDF UnixLinux operating systems Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. This job is located in Darmstadt. We are looking for candidates who are available from January 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
