Adolescents who are exposed to e-cigarette TV advertising are more likely to try e-cigarettes in the future, according to a groundbreaking experiment from researchers at RTI International. Although advertising and adolescent use of e-cigarettes have simultaneously increased in recent years, this is the first study to demonstrate a direct link between adolescents' exposure to advertising and their likelihood of future use.

Las Vegas car dealerships settle with FTC over deceptive ads

The FTC announced Monday that TC Dealership, L.P.'s Planet Hyundai and JS Autoworld, Inc.'s Planet Nissan have agreed to stop misrepresenting the cost to buy or lease a vehicle. Federal officials said the two businesses indicated false or misleading purchase prices, monthly payments for purchases and leases and down payments in its advertisements.

San Francisco moves to put warnings on ads for sugary drinks

Soda and some other sugary drinks contribute to health problems, San Francisco supervisors said as they voted unanimously to approve health warnings on ads for such beverages. The soda industry said it might sue to block the ordinance, while supporters said they will seek to expand the requirement beyond the city.
