A vacancy has arisen for a Propulsion Test Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing testing and launch support of satellite propulsion systems and components, from preparation of equipment and documentation, through to testing and recording of data. You will support the satellite fuelling at the launch facility, and maintain the technical and safety requirements for all activities during testing and fuelling The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Preparation of test and launch documentation within the requirements of the Satellite Propulsion system including technical and safety Working as part of a small, specialist team within a multidisciplined project team. Manufacture, maintain and operate equipment specific to the requirements of the propulsion system. Perform test and launch services activities to strict quality and technical requirements through to testing and recording of data. Frequent and occasionally extended periods of offsite work required. Ability to deliver multiple tasks to set time frames Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written at all levels The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Engineering based HNCHND or time served engineering apprenticeship plus relevant experience A good knowledge and understanding of mechanical and pneumatic systems, gases and some basic electrical engineering skills Experience of high value, high precision engineering, ideally with experience in the aerospace industry Demonstrated PC literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PC based applications Must be prepared to travel abroad occasionally for extended periods 46 weeks continuously. A good team player Proactive and positive attitude Methodical and selfmotivated with an eye for detail An enthusiastic and committed individual with demonstrated experience of working under pressure to tight schedule requirements. A vacancy has arisen for a Senior AIT Electrical Test Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced electrical subsystem engineer for a senior role as part of a highly skilled team of electrical engineers. You will be responsible for performing electrical and test software preparation, integration, subsystem and system tests within an automated test environment on bespoke nonflight and flight spacecraft hardware and software. In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating specific subsystem testing and direct a junior engineer under the guidance of the project specific AIT Electrical Lead in accordance with Electrical Test Services department processes. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Review and interpretation of electrical test requirements. Provide test solutions. Definition of project and project test equipment requirements. To provide technical inputs to formal project reviews. Preparation of test plans, test procedures and test reports. Preparing and organising electrical test activities. Performing electrical integration and automated test at unit, subsystem system level. Development of Automatic Test procedures ATP using bespoke high level test SW language, for execution of the test and control of the test environment. Developmental scripts using standard LINUX scripting tools to automate operations, Ensure standard satellite electrical AIT processes are applied for bespoke project specific AIT requirements, Spacecraft electrical test and support during environmental test and launch activities. Work to company and departmental procedures and maintain adherence to EN 9001. Definition of electrical test aids and overseeing the procurement, manufacture and validation. Working closely with system engineers and subsystem architects to ensure AIT requirements are embedded in the unit and subsystem design. Mentoring junior electrical engineers in all aspects of integration, automated test methodology and associated tasks Provide technical input to enhance department procedures and processes The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience An excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of electricalelectronic testing within an automated test environment with competent software skills Degree or diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Extensive handson experience in an electronic test andor hardware software verification environment with some leadership practice. Experience in a bespoke test and manufacturing environment within the electrical electronic industries under high quality control. Selfmotivated and able to learn quickly through onthejob experience. Competent in the use of various types of test equipment used for electrical, data and RF measurements, e.g. DMM, milliohm meter, oscilloscope, signal generator, logic analyser, network analyser, data bus monitors, etc. Current handson experience of writing software scripts for execution of the test and control of the test environment Working knowledge of Databases Current experience in taking a senior role and managing their own and others tasks. Able and willing to undertake overseas travel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Team player, organised and methodical Desirable skills Spacecraft electrical knowledge.
