Lease Network Engineer Strategic Services

Primary role purpose This role provides support for our high value strategic leases which require a high degree of availability and support from an extremely demanding customer. Following a change in operational concept earlier this year activities relating to these leases have increased creating the need for this position. These support activities will involve liaison with the government customer, NOC operations staff and staff at remote earth stations. In addition to activities related to day to day operations and liaison relating to the strategic leases, the post will also support business development activities for future strategic leases and assist in calibration, test and monitoring activities related to all Inmarsats lease services. Business development will involve direct interaction with our government Business Units. The role reports directly to the Lease Operations Manager who is responsible for all lease activities across all Inmarsats satellites. Key Responsibilities Provide day to day support for Strategic Lease operations, liaising with the customer and operations staff at the NOC and Earth Stations Support the Lease Operations Manager and Business Units in preparing designs and proposals for future Strategic Leases Participate in the benchmarking and testing of lease services, liaising with the NOC and end customers when performing this activity Participate in the debug and troubleshooting activities related to Strategic Lease services Essential Knowledge and Skills A strong first degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics At least five years experience of working in the telecommunications industry Communication system and link analysis including budgets link, transmission etc A solid understanding of analogue and digital communications and knowledge of RF Good verbal communications skills. Due to the nature of the customers operating Strategic Leases candidates from Five Eyes nations will be favoured Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, US. Desirable Knowledge and Skills A second degree in Engineering Security clearance from a NATO member nation A high degree of integrity Excellent writing and reporting skills

Senior Network Design Engineer

Telesat has an opening for a Senior Network Design Engineer who will join Network Engineering as we build our team working on the LEO Vantage program. The Senior Network Design Engineer provides engineering expertise supporting the development, design and implementation of Telesats satellite network solutions. The incumbent will perform systems level analyses and trades to optimize performance of the overall IP network consisting of satellites, gateway stations, network equipment and user terminals. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Provides technical expertise to next generation network development projects involving new satellite technologies combined with existing wireless and fiber networks. Works with sales and marketing to adapt technical solutions to market demands. Interfaces with customers to develop technical requirements for advanced systems. Helps develop strategies for system development in cooperation with other systems engineers. Performs overall technical and programmatic tradeoffs of solutions proposed to customers. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Degree in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience in communication networks. Advanced IPMPLS training andor certification such as Cisco CCDPDE. Experience with IP and switched networking such as IPv4v6, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, RSVP, LDP, QoS, IP VPN, VLAN, VLLVPLS, MEF Forum. Experience developing and implementing complex system architectures for advanced satellite or terrestrial wireless networks. Experience deploying latest generation networking technologies. Direct experience with baseband system technologies, coding, modulation and associated acceleration techniques used in advanced communication systems including LTE. Experience with IPTV and streaming systems is desirable. Familiar with wireless or satellite link performance trades to optimize overall system capacity is an asset. Proven ability to thoroughly document technical requirements in specifications. Strong track record developing innovative solutions. Ability to work in a crossfunctional environment. Strong communication and presentation skills. The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and to obtain CGP Controlled Goods Program clearance and be eligible for access to ITAR International Traffic in Arms Regulations controlled datahardware. Network Engineer

A vacancy for a Network Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space. This role can be based either in Stevenage, Hawthorn or Corsham. You will be part of the Systems Engineering team. This team is responsible for the provision of support to project delivery, installation of services across all Airbus Defence and Space owned sites and at customer sites as applicable, support for the provision of Network Management Systems and Fault Management System infrastructure implementation. You will provide service design and implementation advice to the support teams. You will typically engage at the preparation for CDR stage of the project. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Liaison with customer, SDA and project manager to capture all user and system requirements in order to define the service requirements specification. Create full system design extrapolating from PDR design documents, including the creation of system concept model if applicable and all relevant documentation. Implement test the service including provision of oversight for installation activities. Systems engineers are expected to support installation at any of our customers sites. As a result overseas travel is to be expected. Development and ownership of Design documentation required for CDR and FsDR, including detailed design document, dialling plans etc. Liaising with relevant Network Management Service teams to produce a suitable fault management solution, and or billing solutions as appropriate. Lead the VVT stage of the project coordinating support from other groups as necessary Provide support for the service transition into operations, from FsDR to Phase 6, ensuring that suitable handovers are provided to relevant operational staff. Supporting Incident Management escalations providing diagnosis and recommendations. Travel is expected to the Ground Station installations on a frequent basis. As part of the role there will also be a requirement to travel to customer installations overseas. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Engineering degree or IT degree with previous experience in the Telecoms or Satellite Communications industries. CCNPCCDP certification. Applied CCNP level Networking skills in practise. Proven experience as Satcomms Systems Engineer, including Cryptos. Proven experience as Design Engineer Data and Voice Systems. Proven experience as Implementation Engineer including data, voice circuits and serial communications protocols. Experience in IP network design implementation at professional level. Must have demonstrable knowledge of, IP, VOIP and MPLS systems. Knowledge of satellite communications systems. Knowledge and use of encryption devices including DCAP, Mini Catapan and Ectocrypt. Knowledge of serial communication protocols. Knowledge of test methods for the above mentioned technologies. Good report writing and general communication skills. Must be analytical and able to diagnose and recommend problem resolution. Knowledge of Enterprise Grade Certificate Services PKI either delivery or utilisation. Desirable Experience of supporting a formal accreditation or evaluation process e.g . ISO 27001, NATO, CAS, CPS Knowledge of formal architecture methods. Demonstration by experience the ability to support all phases of a Technical delivery from initial requirements capture through to inservice operations.
