Role Description Summary As our Network Engineer you will be directly responsible to the Manager, Core Network Engineering for the design, implementation and management of mission critical IP production networks associated with Satellite based IP platforms, Internet Backbone infrastructure and media content contributiondistribution. Primary Responsibilities Key Result Areas Participate in the design of the SES core transport networks and its associated provisioning and assurance systems, including, but not limited to validation of technical requirements, assessment of platforms or vendors and budgetary requirements Implementation of the core transport networks nodes and pointsofpresence PoP in line with the design principles and business requirements Strong focus on maintaining uptodate documentation drawingsoperational procedurestrouble shooting guides Responsible for proactive maintenance of the core transport networks, through upgrades and preventive maintenances and for reactive maintenance via Level 3 network engineering support to Network Operations staff during office hours and oncall by rotation during out of business hours Engineering support for sales, sales engineering and product development teams both for Video and Networks with focus on customer requirements, operational efficiency and budgetary requirements Participate and responsible for Core Network Engineering intime delivery in crossfunctional and company strategic projects Be able to understand and effectively interact with all stakeholders in the infrastructure and service delivery process Subjectmatter expert in systems and technologies deployed in the Core Transport Networks as well as broad mastering of service provider best practices and current deployments Manage allocated SES sites, hardware upgrades and capacity planning Competencies Good problem solving and analytical skills able to delivery visible and measurable results with limited supervision and incomplete input Must be able understand and deliver on company goals and maintain focus on the end customer experience and quality of service delivery Be able to demonstrate good documentation and report writing skills for team members andor crossfunctional peers Willingness to explore nextgeneration solutions and technologies Ability to coordinate business requirements and day to day tasks, both autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams Ability to manage complex projects and major network implementations Good communication skills and teamspirit Systematic and consistent problem and technical issues solving both in business as usual and stress environment Qualification Experience University degree in ElectronicsEngineeringIT or equivalent At least 5 years of professional experience in IP networking and LANWAN technologies including but not limited to Layer 2 3, network architecture and design Thorough understanding of ISP backbone networks and associated services Proven track record in design, implementation and support of high availability IPMPLS networks in the Service Provider domain along with associated security, traffic management and monitoring systems Building experience in Multicast Very strong knowledge in OSPF, MPLS, BGP, MPLS services is a must Building experience on MPLSTE, RSVP, Multicast and multicast VPN At least 3 years of experience in Service Provider networks Building experience in Cisco IOS XR and Juniper JUNOS Building experience with using automation tools and technologies Able to read, write and debug shell code and other scripting languages e.g. Perl, PHP, Python Cisco certified at professional level Service Provider tracks mandatory CCIE SP as well as additional vendor certifications are encouraged Experience in deploying and managing onpremises virtualization technologies VMWare ESX and Citrix Xenserver Building experience with cloud hosted applications Experience in administration Linux CentOS, Redhat, Ubuntu servers Understanding of authentication and authentication protocols such as TACACS, RADIUS and LDAP and experience in managing IP Address Management tools and managing DNSDHCP servers and services Other Key Requirements Comments KPI deliver projects on time and within budget. ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Senior Engineer, Network Operations plays a critical role in supporting the 247 shift of the SES Global Services Network Operations Center, ensuring end to end operational lifecycle of fixed data customer services and infrastructure. The Senior Engineer collaborates with operations, engineering, infrastructure, tools and customer facing organizations to ensure contracted SLAs are upheld and leaves SESs customers satisfied with Managed Services operations. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring Incident management and reporting process adherence and compliance as well as to mentor and train the support teams to the highest level to support multiple technologies and services in a consistent and measurable fashion. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Provide Level3 equivalent support to shift teams in troubleshooting incidents by analyzing the troubleshooting data and providing experienced feedback on next actions before engaging next Level support Design and develop training and competency assessment in line with reporting manager towards the shift teams RF engineers to ensure each teams ability to support multiple technologies, processes and services are at par with Global Services standards Liaise with other technical teams to ensure all procedures, training, checklists, workarounds, etc. remain complete and relevant Liaise and maintain technical knowledge on par with external teams in IT, Gateway Services, Sales Engineering, Asset Management, Payload Management, and other level 3 teams as required to manage the tickets Create technical documentation to assist the NOC shift engineers with daily incident troubleshooting and resolution.
