Telecom Italia revenues down 6.6% in Q4, misses profit target and launches 2020-22 business plan

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) posted a 6.6 percent year-on-year decline in revenues to EUR 4.0 billion in the fourth quarter, with improved results at its TIM Brasil unit offset by a fall of EUR 291 million (-7.6% year on year) at its domestic unit. TIM's EBITDA for the quarter came to EUR 1.7 billion, down 1.6 percent compared to Q4 2018 on an organic basis, with a domestic decline of 12.8 percent largely offset by a strong performance in Brazil, where it's teaming up with Telefonica to bid for Brazilian operator Oi's mobile business.

America Movil revenues edge higher in Q3, net profit falls on forex charges

(Telecompaper) Facebook's fourth-quarter results showed little signs of a slowdown, with revenues up 30 percent year-on-year to USD 16.91 billion. The company's net profit soared 61 percent to USD 6.88 billion, helped by a sharp fall in its tax bill. Operating profit rose a slower 6 percent to USD 7.82 billion, and the margin fell to 46 percent from 57 percent a year ago.

(Telecompaper) Following a strong start to the year, Twitter delivered another set of solid results for the second quarter, with revenues rising 24 percent from the year earlier to USD 711 million. Including the discontinued TellApart platform, revenues went up 27 percent. Advertising made up the bulk of revenue, jumping 23 percent to USD 601 million, with total ad engagements leaping 81 percent and cost per engagement falling 32 percent. Data licensing and other revenue meanwhile increased 29 percent to USD 109 million. By region, US revenue still trumped international, up 10 percent to USD 367 million. Revenue from the rest of the world, however, advanced faster, up 44 percent to USD 344 million.
