2013-11-27 23:27:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Asian mobile operator group Axiata reported a net profit of MYR 769.78 million, down 4.8 percent year-on-year from MYR 808.41 million. The decrease was due mainly to lower EBITDA contribution in Indonesia, higher foreign exchange losses, and a one-off reversal in Q3 2012 of cumulative deferred tax liability in Sri Lanka. Total revenues grew 4.6 percent to MYR 4.75 billion from MYR 4.54 billion in the year-ago quarter as voice services revenues went up 1.4 percent to MYR 2.45 billion and data services revenues jumped 21.2 percent to MYR 727 million. However, SMS revenues slumped 11.2 percent to MYR 580 million but VAS revenues were up 6.1 percent to MYR 230 million. EBITDA stood at MYR 1.92 billion, up 2.7 percent but EBITDA margin slipped 0.7 percentage point to 40.4 percent on forex losses from the Indonesia unit and aggressive data investment costs. The group ended the quarter with 239.7 million customers across all operating companies, up 18.1 percent year-on-year. Axiata reiterated FY 2013 guidance for revenue growth of 7.6 percent and EBITDA growth of 0.2 percent.
