For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Web Applications Development Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities The key person will ensure support for the development and maintenance of IT applications in the field of Management Support Information Systems MIS, web applications and portals provided and maintained by TECQ. As such it covers Definition, design, development, maintenance and documentation of TECQ specific MIS tools mainly local or shared databases, including production and maintenance of associated documentation Development, maintenance and user support for tools such as the IPN and EAS system, ESCC related ESCIES portal and spacecomponents.org community website and others Support to System Analysis of the MIS applications used in TEC Q to improve the overall system efficiency Identification of requirements for interfacing with ESA Corporate applications and design and implementation of related interfaces with TEC internal applications, in coordination with related design authorities in ESA Liaison with user community within and outside TECQ and provision of user support Operational support for generation of relevant data files, databases, reports, prints etc. in relation to day to day operations Provision of reporting and documentation as required Development of web applications using well defined industry standard, and supportable techniques and technologies Maintenance of existing web applications based on core JAVA, XML and JavaScript technologies, in particular Spring framework, with database back ends Development and maintenance of.NET Microsoft SharePoint integrated applications Development and maintenance of data analysis and presentation applications this mostly involves C, C, .NET and Python Web mastering, publishing of content and user management for all TECQ core web applications based on PHP and .NET technologies. Requirements Applicants require a University degree Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or Engineering and a minimum of 4 years professional work experience. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Software Engineer for Earth Observation Applications Development SDSSAJOBEOS3 Tasks and Responsibilities Within the Software and Data System Department you will join the Earth Observation Systems EOS Team that develops complex software systems combining stateoftheart technologies from Earth Observation EO, Geographic Information Systems GIS, and Knowledge Management KM domains. The team leads projects for the European Space Agency, is involved in European Commission Research and Technology Development programmes, is developing commercial applications and frequently works with international partners. You will be responsible for the design and development of distributed satellite data processing platforms to process satellite data to create, so called downstream, user level products to OGC standards and apply cloud processing methods and technology. The work will be performed in our offices in Zaventem Brussels and may require short international travels for meetings. Qualifications and Experience For this position we expect you to have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Physical Geometry, Remote Sensing. The following capabilities are mandatory 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of distributed Javabased systems Experience with the software development lifecycle Competent in writing highquality software project documentation in English Good knowledge of Linux systems as a user and administrator.
