Position Reference 978 You will provide your engineering expertise to the Ground Stations engineering related activities of the future ground segment mainly EPSSG, MTG and JasonCS. You will also provide engineering support to the existing MSG and EPS programmes. You will contribute to the activities of ground segment developments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Contribute to the follow up of the detailed design and development activities of Phase BCD of the future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications mainly for supporting EPS SG and JasonCS activities Contribute to the MTG MDAF and TTCF Warranty and Maintenance phases in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations, Contribute to the maintenance and evolution in phase E to the other programmes within EUMETSAT MSG, EPS, Jason... in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have an university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks. You have, as a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 2 years in the following Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TTC TTC baseband equipment and SLE compliant implementations Technical background in the specification and VV of ground stations and large antennas and tracking systems for GEO and LEO satellites Knowledge of modulationdemodulation schemes applied by Ground to Space ICD for TTC and payload data transmission e.g. ECSS and CCSDS Standards. You are fluent in English. The following skills would be highly desirable You have competence and experience in the engineering processes for managing requirements from the definition phase through the traceability, verification, validation and maintenance stages using formal methods and tools e.g. DOORs. You possess system experience with Link budget analysis and tools in S, X and Ka Band. You have knowledge of standard RF and microwave tools and SW package for generation of signal processing related simulations andor semiautomated measurement procedures. JOB LOCATION The position is based in Rome. The availability to make occasional National and International travels is required. Shortstays at our customers premises, based in Italy, may be required only during specific project phases. TASKS The Ground Segment System Engineer shall work on multiple projects and assignments, leading all the internal technical activities with an high degree of autonomy during all the subsystem lifecycle, from the specification up to the operations phase. HeShe shall support proposal preparation and sales activities by leading, preparing and delivering all the required contributions inherent to the job position. The applicant shall be able to Lead development team, in respect to established schedule, costs and performances Perform tradeoff analysis and decide on solutions, techniques and approaches Participate to internal and external meetings and discussions related to relevant issues, participate to and prepare documentation presentation, technical notes, etc for the GS and Subsystems milestones provide all the relevant contribution to upper level reviews. The following expertise is considered as mandatory extensive knowledge in Satellite Ground Segment engineering, development, integration and testing Knowledge of ECSS with greater focus on E branch, E70 and E40 disciplines Team coordination experience The following expertise is considered as an advantage involvement in nanosatellite projects for ground segments andor open source mission control software knowledge experience on Flight Dynamics systems and Mission control systems for Earth Observation missions Project management experience Knowledge of Linux OS The applicant shall also possess very good analytical skills very good communications and presentation skills very good technical writing generating and delivering skills high level of written and spoken English sufficient level of written and spoken Italian The position can be opportunely tailored to the applicant level of experience job tasks and associated required degree of autonomy will be consequently adjusted. Position Reference 026 You will have the opportunity to contribute to activities mainly corresponding to various stages of the Detailed Design Phase C of a given programme under definition and development, and Phase D Implementation and Validation, as contribution to Integration, Verification and Validation. The main emphasis is on the payload data ground segment of the EPSSG programme. This covers payload data acquisition ground stations and data processing elements. This position will be based in Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Requirements engineering in DOORS. This includes review, specification and refinement of existing requirements, their uptraces to parent Ground Segment specifications, justifications and verification methods Support to the procurement of payload data acquisition processing elements by advising on technical solutions proposed by the responsible contractors, and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements Refinement of ICDs, especially those between payload data acquisition processing elements and other GS functions Support to the preparation and execution of the testing, integration and acceptance of procured elements Support to the installation of ground segment elements at sites, and their integration into the overall Ground Segment system Verification and validation IVV of the integrated Ground Segment Review of System, Space Segment and Ground Segment documentation dealing with requirements, concepts, algorithms and technical analyses of relevance for data processing, including review of calibration concepts defined by the Space Segment with emphasis on their implications on Ground Segment data processing concepts, interfaces and architecture Participation in formal reviews and technical meetings at System and Ground Segment level.
