EU's clothing imports have less significantly declined in December, with Chinese shipments falling at a slower pace. The weakness of the euro has continued taking its toll on the level in imports in 2019, as unit values were rising in euro terms, although kept stable in dollar terms. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs. Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs. woven clothing. Data are supplied in euros and US dollars with historical data available for download, back to January 2000.

A declining China has been replaced by other suppliers with currency variations helping Turkey in controlling the higher end of the market, whereas Bangladesh was struggling with higher export prices. As usual, results are widely different among countries and categories, as reflected by our below quarterly report.
