During 25th Annual Junior Solar Sprint and Lithium Ion Battery car competitions, 63 teams from 17 Colorado middle schools gathered at Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton. Event drew nearly 200 students eager to show and race vehicles they designed and built. Trophy for fastest solar powered model car was given to students from Stargate School (Thornton), "SG Solar 2," and trophy for fastest lithium-ion powered model car was given to students from Bell Middle School (Golden), "BMS 2 Battery."

Hundreds of activists gathered outside NV Energy headquarters in Las Vegas to protest a state cap affecting rooftop solar installations and urge the Legislature to lift it. In a 21-0 vote, Nevada's state senators agreed Sunday to let the public utilities commission create a new electricity rate for people who have installed their own solar panels.
