Worlds First Solar Road Already Generating More Power Than Expected
2015-05-15 15:19:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
EcoWatch: SolaRoad, the worlds first solar road, has only been in operation since November, but its already generating more power than expected. SolaRoad is a bike path in Krommenie, a village northwest of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, that also functions as a massive solar array. The project was developed by TNO, the Province of Noord-Holland, Ooms Civiel and Imtech. We did not expect a yield as high as this so quickly, said Sten de Wit, spokesman for SolaRoad. The bike road opened half a year ago...

Single-Axis Solar Tracking System promotes uptime and reliability.
2015-05-15 14:31:09| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Design of DuraTrack™ HZ v3 maximizes modules per row, minimizes number of motors and columns, offers automatic row alignment, and provides snow/sand dune obstruction protection on automatic and individual row basis. Also, single-bolt per module mounting bracket reduces module installation time. Passive wind mitigation feature eliminates storm survival risks, complexities, and maintenance issues associated with active stow components and UPS systems.

Solar road a great success
2015-05-15 09:31:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Blue and Green: The worlds first solar road is generating more electricity than expected engineers have confirmed, just six months after initial launch. Dutch engineers built the project November last year as part of a three-year pilot. The 70 metre track between the Dutch suburbs of Krommenie and Wormerveer has embedded solar panels that transmit energy into either the national power grid and power streetlights. Engineers have confirmed that in the first six months of the three year pilot, the road has generated...
