For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Galileo QMS Operations AIV Engineer. Section Overview Radio Navigation system GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO etc. and augmentation EGNOS, WAAS, QZSS etc. Study, analyses and testing of navigation algorithms, including tools development evaluation of Navigation Positioning Timing algorithm and techniques, user system segment performance assessment based on software simulators, laboratory and field measurements, and support to ESA projects in follow up of industrial procurements Radio Navigation equipments covering space applications Study, analysis and testing of navigation positioning ranging monitoring technology and receiver for space. Radio Navigation space applications performed at ESA including scientific applications atmospheric sounding, oceanic observation, formation flying, rendezvous and attitude determination Radio Navigation equipments for terrestrial applications Study, design, analysis and testing of navigation receivers technology for terrestrial applications and local augmentation. Radio Navigation terrestrial applications performed at ESA are those related with high performance based on high accuracy e.g. geodesy and or high integrity e.g. civil aviation, maritime Radio Navigation signals and signal processing Study, design, analysis and testing of signal and signal processing techniques including tools equipment development and procurement. It encompasses signal structure, modulations, data dissemination, techniques for error correction, synchronisation, multipath mitigation and estimation, interference mitigation, cancellation, encryption, authentication, etc. Radio Navigation Laboratory equipments Study, definition procurement design, testing, usage of Radio Navigation equipment in support to Radio Navigation experiments and test campaigns. Tasks and Responsibilities The Key Person will have the following tasks Supporting and followup the procurements actions and industry contracts with regard to the implementation of elements in the GMS Operational Chain, mainly MSF, VTP MTPF, their subsystems and any other relevant facility and relevant datadevelopment and modifications Evaluation of contractors GMS element designs as part of the GMS Operational Chain, in the areas of monitoring control of Galileo assets, archiving, realtime and offline mission monitoring, mission uplink and control, mission support, training, maintenance, identification of design deficiencies and identification of required solutions Contribution of all GMS and System reviews, and meetings for all topics related to GMS Operational Chain activities Contribution to the GMS overall Engineering activities, requirements engineering, change management and baseline evolutions DCP DCNs, assessments of RED RFWs, HW SW COTS, AIV support etc. Supporting the assessment of overall GMS operability and integrated logistic support ILS aspects of the GMS functions, including the verification of the related operational procedures and the support to Operations related to operability and ILS aspects Supporting Integration, Verification and Qualification, IVQ, activities in the area of the Operability Chain Facilities, ensuring followup and monitoring of Industry IVQ activities and participation to formal verification activities, I.E. Credit Collection at element and segment level in the area of the Operational Chain Support the definition of the definition and preparation of test cases Preparation of technical documents. Requirements Applicants require a MSc PhD preferred in an appropriate subject together with a minimum of 4 years of industrial experience. Furthermore the candidates should bring Experience in supporting and followup the procurements actions and industry contracts with regard to the implementation of elements in the GMS Operational Chain Experience with evaluation of contractors designs Experience with contribution to all System reviews Experience in requirements engineering, change management and baseline evolutions, assessments of RFD RFWs, HWSW COTS, AIV support etc. Experience with supporting Integration, Verification and Qualification, IVQ, activities in the area of the Operability Chain Facilities Experience with support of the definition and preparation of test cases Experience in preparing technical documents.
