Ground Operations Engineering mf Ref.Nr. 158822 The Challenge We are looking for Ground Operations Engineers, who are responsible for providing the ops engineering required for their missions during preparation and execution phase. During the routine phase they are the first level of escalation above ECC and Scheduling Office. Their typical counterparts on the side of ESA missions are Analysts and Spacecraft Operations Engineers, for external missions their interface is to the customers. The GOE tasks are defined below. The core tasks of a Ground Operations Engineering service are as follows Participate in the mission specific design of the ground segment elements Participate in the mission specific validation of ground segment elements prior to critical operations Participate as OM in the critical operations phases for that mission Participate in the definition of mission specific ground station configuration in the ops preparation phase and after major modifications Participate in the validation of station configuration and MC tailoring for remote operations Monitor performance of ESTRACK services provided to customers and trigger corrective actions in case of degradations Initiate or conduct investigations into anomalies affecting the Ground service to the mission Participate in regular meeting with missions e.g. WORM, ICM or event driven meetings e.g. MRBs The service comprises in particular the following tasks GOE for the setup and validation of the Earth Observation missions, including OM LEOP support and other critical operations phases support GOE for the setup and validation of the Astronomy and Fundamental Physics Missions, including OM LEOP support and other critical operations phases support GOE for the setup and validation of the Solar and Planetary Missions, including OM LEOP support and other critical operations phases support OM team member for other missions as required The technical and operational validation process includes the clear definition of the test environment, the objectives and the approach, including the detailed testsetup and procedures, execution of the validation tests and providing the test report. It also includes reporting of nonconformances and follow up on these including verification of closure of these nonconformances. This is full time positions, located at ESOC in Darmstadt, with starting date 1st of July 2015. Your Qualifications This position requires a University degree such as a Bachelor of Science as a minimum.
