Our client is seeking for a MetOp Spacecraft Operations Engineer that will be integrated into the MetOp Spacecraft Operations Team, led by the MetOp Spacecraft Operations Manager, within the Flight Operations Division of the Operations and User Services. Typical tasks and responsibilities include the support to the routine operations of MetOp A, B and preparing for MetOpC, comprisingprovision of operational expertise to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Operations Support Entity in ESTEC and Industry participation in the satellite oncall support rota, identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the MetOp Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces support to the system and operations preparation of Metop Second Generation satellites provide inputs and or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel3 and JasonCS developments. The candidate will be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on the existing experience and the overall team needs. The successful candidate should have experience in one or more of the following arrears spacecraft monitor and control operations spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level.The candidate should also have experience inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites, in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities and specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements along with familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures, data analysis software packages such as MATLAB, file parsing languages such as PERL, AWK and the use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. All candidates must have a University or similar degree in a relevant discipline and be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.
