For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for an Metop Spacecraft Operations Engineer fm at Eumetsat. Tasks The key person shall work in the Operations and User Services Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for MetopC, for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for Sentinel3 and JasonCS. The tasks of the key person will typically include Support to the routine operations of MetopA, MetopB and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Operations Support Entity in ESTEC and Industry Participation in the satellite oncall support rota Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces Support to the system and operations preparation of Metop Second Generation satellites Provide inputs and or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites Support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites Provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel3 and JasonCS developments Anforderungen Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have a demonstrated experience in one or more of the following Spacecraft monitor and control operations Spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level The candidate should be selfmotivated and able to work in an organised and efficient manner with minimum supervision. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills are essential. Desirable skills The following experience would be regarded as additional assets Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications Ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions Other Information Fluency in English is mandatory Standby callout support is required Travel within Europe may be necessary Must be an EU national or possess a currently valid German Work Residence Permit Foreseen starting date is 01 January 2014 To guarantee that your application is processed, please apply via our website httpwww.scisys.dewhereweworkspacecareersspacejobs.html
