Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced Mission Control Operations Engineer to support the system development and operations preparation of the MTG Mission Operations Facility MOF, performed within GEO division, and to support to the routine operations of the MSG Ground Segment and the EPS Overall Ground System OGS. The Mission Control Operations Engineer will work in the Flight Operations Division Mission Control Systems team and be integrated with the MTG MOF team within the GEO division, at EUMETSAT. Responsibilities The Mission Control Operations Engineer will support activities at the site to work on tasks such as design and development of the MTG Mission Operations Facility, related subsystems and interfaces, in particular with a focus on the Mission Operations Facility operability definition and implementation of Mission Operations Facility subsystem acceptance and MOF system integration testing, in particular with a focus on the definition of operationally relevant validation test scenarios analysis of MTG specific Packet Utilisation Services PUS with the goal to develop operational concepts compatible with the Mission Operations Facility design execution of Mission Operations Facility system verification and validation activities definition and implementation of MTG Ground Segment system verification and validation activities, including formal system operational validation, SSVTs, and operations rehearsals refinement of the MTG mission operations concept in relation to the Mission Operations Facility and its implementation in the Reference Operations Plan and System Operations File, including related documents and procedures, databases definition of MTG mission operations data items including displays, operations procedures, operational databases, operations guides, etc. definition and implementation of Mission Operations Facility operational interfaces execution of MTG Ground Segment, Mission Operations Facility system, and Mission Operations Facility subsystem reviews, technical meetings, and scheduling and planning meetings review and implementation of planned changes to the system configuration review, disposition and resolution of system anomalies when applicable, the provision of oncall support postlaunch and to specific pre launch activities as part of a team of MCS engineers development and implementation of operations for existing operational programs development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programs, such as EPSMetopC This is a fulltime position located at EUMETSATs premises in Darmstadt, Germany. The start date is 1st January 2016. Occasional travel within Europe may be necessary. Working time is normal working hours. This position may also require standby support and callout support. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have an university degree, in a relevant engineering discipline or other suitable qualification. Applicants shall have skills and expertise in the following mandatory areas at least five years experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of spacecraft mission control systems for Geostationary GEO andor Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems at least five years experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems at least three years experience operating a spacecraft mission control system based on SCOS2000 at least three years experience with the application of ECSS and CCSDS standards for spacetoground interfaces, Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. fluency in English spoken and written, as English is the working language Experience of the following would be an distinct advantage extensive experience at least three years in the use of databases and SQL related querying in relation to spacecraft mission control systems experience at least two years of using configuration management systems such as CVS and or GIT experience at least two years of using satellite simulators familiarity with flight dynamics and mission planning functions and systems as applied to satellite operations familiarity with EPOCH IPS MC product suite from Integral Systems now Kratos Linux operating system leading a small team of engineers The position requires a great deal of independence and selfmotivation.
