Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK. Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Software Engineer to support the operation, maintenance and evolution of space mission operations preparation OpsPrep tools. EUMETSAT is using a set of tools to support preparation of mission operational functions, such as Telemetry and Telecommand TMTC databases management and flight operational procedures definition. OpsPrep tools are typically based on existing tools that are tailored and extended in the scope of the mission preparation. EUMETSAT maintains and evolves the different OpsPrep tools in collaboration with other agencies such as ESA and through maintenance contracts with industry. The Operations Preparation Tools Software Engineer will support EUMETSAT in this activity. Responsibilities As an Operations Preparation Tools Software Engineer, you will perform engineering tasks in the domain of mission operations preparation tools development and maintenance for new and existing EUMETSAT space missions. OpsPrep Tools cover the following functions Mission Control System Telemetry and Telecommand Definition Database Management Flight Operational Procedure preparation and verification OnBoard software images verification Spacecraft Performance analysis Onboard Procedure definition and verification The engineering tasks related to the role typically include one or more of the following activities Software maintenance lifecycle Maintain, redesign or improve any relevant software pipelines Maintain, redesign or improve configuration items relevant for the maintenance activities e.g. JavaScripts use to implement EUMETSAT test procedures Provide expertise to users and technical staff with respect to the simulator usage Contribute to the identification, investigation and implementation of anomalies raised by users Participation in formal meetings in the scope of the maintenance activities e.g. Anomaly Review Boards, Test Readiness Review, Incoming inspections, or other relevant technical meetings. Participate in the delivery acceptance process Contribution to any EUMETSAT maintenance processes leading to the deployment of the delivery Software configuration activities Preparation of relevant software application configuration artefacts Preparation of configuration artefacts relevant for development, deployment , production and verification activities Maintain and improve the development, integration and production environments used in the scope of the simulator activities Technical Documentation Contribute to the maintenance of the requirements baseline Update of simulator documentation artefacts e.g. Design, Requirements, etc Contribute to the improvement of the knowledge base in the operational simulators domain Document the outcome of investigation and implementation activities in relevant tracking tools Assistance to users in the scope of procurement phases and routine operations. This is a fulltime position to be located in Darmstadt TermaEumetsat premises with the planned start in January 2019. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have an university degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the job profile and a minimum of two years of experience in the operations of realtime, complex, satellite instrument data processing systems. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience Experience with spacecraft telemetry and telecommand databases Operational procedures preparation Software engineering UML modelling ObjectOriented Design Three tiers architectures Verification and Validation Application Lifecycle Tools such as Eclipse IDE, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, Git, Junit Software Languages and frameworkslibraries such as Java Programming, CC Programming, Eclipse RCP plugins development Operating Systems and virtualization Linus Operating systems SLES11, SLES12, Open Suse, some experience with MS Windows Applications ESOC DABYS Space Standards CCSDS TM and TC Management Software development lifecycle, project management, technical management The following experience would be an additional asset Functional Domain Mission Control Systems Software Engineering OO Design Patterns, Database modelling Software Languages XML, XSD, XSLT, HTML Specific Application Products MOIS, ESOC MICONYS You are expected to be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. You must have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. You are expected to be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies.
