Airbus Defence and Space is a division of Airbus Group formed by combining the business activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy has arisen for a Propulsion Test Engineer with Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible To perform testing and launch support of satellite propulsion systems and components. From preparation of equipment and documentation, through to testing and recording of data. Support of the satellite fuelling at the launch facility. Maintaining the technical and safety requirements for all activities during testing and fuelling. You will travel abroad frequently and occasionally for extended periods 46 weeks continuously. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows a Preparation of test and launch documentation within the requirements of the Satellite. b Propulsion system including technical and safety. c Working as part of a small, specialist team within a multidisciplined project team. d Manufacture, maintain and operate equipment specific to the requirements of the propulsion system. e Perform test and launch services activities to strict quality and technical requirements through to testing and recording of data. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience I Experience required Hands on experience with Propulsion Systems, pneumatics at techician engineer level. Experience in the Aerospace industry, high value, high precision engineering. Experience in Space Propulsion systems would be desirable. Good knowledge and understanding of Mechanical systems, gases and some basic electrical engineering skills. Experience in writing engineering procedures and report writing. II Qualifications Engineering based HNCHND or time served engineering apprenticeship plus relevant experience. III ToolsEquipment Demonstrated PC literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PC based applications. Ideally, you are a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed individual with the ability to deliver multiple tasks to set time frames and to communicate effectively both verbally and written at all levels.
