This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. Spacecraft Operations Engineer 1312087 Job Description The selected candidate will work as a Spacecraft Operations Engineer primarily assigned to the EarthCARE mission, but with the possibility of supporting other missions within the Earth Observation Missions Division. The primary areas of responsibility are related to Data Handling. On EarthCARE, this includes the On Board Computer, including the Remote Interface Unit and the Mass Memory and Formatting Unit, together with their application softwares. These also includes Validation, test and operation of the Mission Control System MCS Setup, validation, test and operation of the OBSM systems Validation and test of the Data Handling Subsystem of the Simulator In addition the candidate will provide support to other subsytems engineers in the team with respect to units which contain embedded software. The candidate may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems on demand. Required Skills and Experience University or similar degree in engineering or physics. Very good spacecraft subsystem knowledge, preferably for Data Handling Experience in spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Teamplayer Selfstarter, able to work independently with little supervision Ability to multitask efficiently, working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and, if given the case, multiple missions Desirable Skills and Experience Knowledge of and experience in ESA Ground Segment Operations and ESOC Ground Segment Components Mission Control System, Simulators ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard knowledge Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Some experience dealing with external interfaces Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites Work Location Darmstadt, Germany Dates Application Deadline 10 October 2013 Start of Work December 2013 Important Notes Before applying to this position, please read the page Notes to Applicants on the Solenix website under Career.
