JOB DESCRIPTION Spacecraft Operations Engineer Responsibilities Duties Tasks Spacecraft Operations Engineer position primarily assigned to Sentinel1 but with the possibility of supporting other missions within the Earth Observation Missions Division. The primary area of responsibility for this position is the Payload Data Handling Transmission PDHT subsystem with includes the Xband RF subsystem. In addition, the candidate will provide operations support to the Data Handling and SBand TTC subsystems. The candidate may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems as defined by the SOM or Division Head. Other areas of responsibility specific to Sentinel1 are Validation, test and operation of the FOS subsystems, including the MCS and Satellite software simulator Support to the setup, validation, test and operation of the OBSM systems Qualifications Applicants should have a University or similar degree in engineering or physics. Required knowledge The candidate should have the following qualities Essential Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, preferably for Data Handling and RF subsystems Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Teamplayer Selfstarter, able to work independently with little supervision Desirable Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Some experience dealing with external interfaces Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites The candidate should be able to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. Applicants should have basic knowledge of all spacecraft subsystems and detailed knowledge of the subsystems listed in the technical description. Knowledge of and experience in ESA Ground Segment Operations and ESOC Ground Segment Components Mission Control System, Simulators is desirable WHAT DO WE OFFER?
