Experience expertise in payload and SVM operations as well as ground operations systems is highly desirable. The XMM and INTEGRAL FCTs are partially merged, so that in addition to their prime responsibilities members of each FCT provide backup and oncall services for both missions. The XMM Mission The XMMNewton mission is a cornerstone ESA Science mission. As an observatory type mission it provides observations of Xray objects like black holes, neutron stars or active galactic nuclei. XMM was launched in December 1999 and is planned to be operated at least until 2012. Data are downlinked continuously via a ground station network of ESA and external stations. More information on the XMM Mission, space and ground segment design can obtained using the link httpxmm.esa.int and on the division in general using httpwww.esa.intSPECIALSOperationsSEMASB8ZMRE0.html. The Integral Mission Integral is ESAs gamma ray Observatory, it is the first space observatory that can simultaneously observe objects in gamma rays, Xrays and visible light. Its principal targets are violent explosions producing gammaray bursts, powerful phenomena such as supernova explosions, and regions in the Universe thought to contain black holes. Integral was launched in 2002 and is currently planned to be operated until December 2014 with further extensions possible. Integral data is downlinked in real time to a network of ESA Ground stations, the Science data is forwarded in real time from ESOC to the Science data Centre in Geneva. The Integral and XMM FCTs are partially merged, so that in addition to their prime responsibilities members of each FCT provide backup and oncall services for both missions.
