Within the Additional Data Services Competence Area ADS CA of the System Engineer and Projects Division SEP, the System Engineer for Third Party Data Services will be responsible for the ground systems required for the acquisition and processing of third party data and the delivery of third party data services to EUMETSAT users, including contributions to relevant engineering activities such as communications and network solutions, data processing and mission data acquisition at XLBand stations. DUTIES Manage and coordinate the design, implementation, testing and validation of systems required for the acquisition of thirdparty data from EUMETSAT partners and for the delivery third party data services to EUMETSAT users Support the implementation and testing of communications networks, mission data acquisition services from XLBand stations and data processing systems used for the delivery of thirdparty data services, including data processing packages provided by international partners Ensure the maintainability of data processing packages delivered to EUMETSAT by international partners and their ease of use by relevant EUMETSAT entities and users Initiate, manage and monitor external procurements and industrial contracts as required, including external services Support the maintenance and evolution of existing thirdparty data services, whilst ensuring overall coherence across supporting systems Contribute to the implementation of change control and baseline management processes Support interactions with international partner agencies providing third party data and European entities involved in their acquisition for example National Meteorological Services or SAF entities. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Proven experience of development of ground systems, preferably softwareintensive, nearreal time systems, following recognized engineering and management standards, from requirementbased design, to implementation and VV Proven experience in ground segment engineering in an operational environment Demonstrated experience in the coordination with different teams, partners and service providers in a project environment, with ability to adapt priorities and schedule as necessary Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to apply these within a team environment Experience of operating within a matrix environment with multiple internal and external interfaces Knowledge of software used for local processing of data directly broadcast by meteorological satellites to XL Band stations would be an advantage University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline Candidates must be able to work effectively in English and have some knowledge of French. EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS The initial contract will be of 4 years duration, with subsequent 5year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of followup contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT. This post is graded A2A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 5,612 per month net of internal tax which may be negotiable based on skills and experience. The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year.
