For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for an EPSSG Test Data and Test Tools Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities The activities performed will be an input for the overall system and ground segment VV activities. You will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. Tools can serve for example the purpose of test data generation manipulation reformatting, test data injection into the ground segment and test data collection analysis. Your typical tasks include Identification of the suite of test tools and test data required to support VV activities and definition of development procurement approach and associated planning Preparation of User Requirement Documents URDs, Statements of Work SoWs, etc., as needed as input for development andor procurement activities Contribution to the inhouse development and validation of test tools and their maintenance Support for procurements of test tools test data, including the analysis of received deliverables and attending acceptance tests Support for acceptance of test tools test data provided by partners such as ESA, CNES, DLR Simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite instrument onground tests or inorbit operation Identification of needs for and, a needed, support for the implementation of an infrastructure to host test tools and test data Support for configuration management of tools test data sets, using applicable EUMETSAT processes Contribution to the preparation of VV tests of processing chains, such as preparation of test specifications and procedures, specifically for aspects related to use of test tools and test data Contribution to the execution of VV tests of processing chains, specifically for the analysis of test results, inter alia using developed test analysis tools, with documentation of the results in test reports. In addition you will be involved in some more general tasks Participation in relevant internal and external meetings Regular review of EPSSG documentation dealing with requirements, system concepts, architecture and design, technical analyses, to identify information of importance for test tools test data In addition, and with the same aim, analysis of documents provided by other teams in EUMETSAT and by external partners Support for the preparation of documentation for EPSSG system level reviews. Some activities will involve interactions with other teams, primarily in the LEO division, and also, as relevant for the work, with engineers at partner agencies. Requirements Essentials You should bring a University degree in the domain of engineering, physics or equivalent and have the following experience and background At least 3 years of general experience with onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation At least 3 years of handson involvement in VV activities for instrument processing chains, including production of test tools and of test data At least 3 years of experience with software specification, design and development and relevant standards Good skills in higher programming languages, such as FORTRAN, CC, Java.
