EPSSG System Design Engineer MF

It has now been over 30 years that comprehensive CS solutions for space systems and applications, both on the ground and in space, have been part and parcel of this odyssey. Mission The activities for this consultancy will focus on the establishing and maintaining system design justifications, system design, tradeoffs, and system budgets. The activity requires one key person for the duration of the consultancy contract. Specific separate Instrument Functional Chain Teams IFCT are being established to ensure that each instrument chain is addressed in an endtoend fashion for Radiometric, Spectral and Geolocation aspects. The primary focus of this key person will be on system aspects not covered by the IFCT however participation in and support to the IFCTs is foreseen. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Analysis and justification of the system design. Provide input to the system design justification document, especially concerning end to end performance aspects. Identify all system areas that require a budget to be maintained. Perform an apportionment between Space and Ground segments and any other element involved Control and document all technical budgets in accordance with ECSS standards Monitor lower level technical specifications and budgets for compliance to system apportionment. Provide support to the IFCT and when needed ensure IFCT results are documented in a systematic manner. Provide support to general system engineering activities Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification Ad hoc internal reviews System level formal reviews SRR, PDR Provide support to progress meetings Support IVV activities These activities will involve interactions with other EUMETSAT divisions. Travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world may have to be undertaken for certain tasks. The work will be released in individual work packages. Profile The key person shall have the following experience and background University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent. At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground system. Experience of large space systems space andor ground segment. Demonstrated capability to clearly document a system design and justification Demonstrated ability to analyse system level requirements and apportion to lower level elements. Experience of establishing and maintaining end to end budgets. The following experience would be additional assets Experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO. Experience with DOORs would be an advantage Experience in RAMS Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety The applicant shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. Mission The activities for this consultancy will focus on coordination of the system technical baseline and specifications. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Define and maintain the system specification tree and baseline. Analyse new versions of lower level technical documents for coherence with system and incorporation into system baseline. Act as book captain for the System Requirements Document SRD. Collating and analysing comments, proposed changes from internal and external reviews and making recommendations on newupdated requirements. Maintain the traceability of system requirements to higher and lower level specifications using DOORs. Provide support to establishment and documentation of an internal change control process for system requirements. Provide support for the preparation and execution of internal and external reviews Prepare inputs for the Configuration Control Board CCB Ensure system level technical specifications adhere to the configuration management plan CMP and documentation management plans DMP. These activities will involve interactions with other EUMETSAT divisions. Travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world may have to be undertaken for certain tasks. EPSSG System Planning Support 1313052 Job Description The activities for this consultancy will focus on defining and maintaining the EPSSG system development logic, schedule and all subsystem interactions. The EPSSG system covers the space segment satellite and instruments, ground segment, satellite application facilities, launcher service and LEOP service, as well as the corresponding operations preparation activities. Satellite development is carried out under ESA responsibility but must be coordinated with all other EUMETSAT developments, and all of its interactions with the rest of the system will be defined as part of this activity. The activities require one key person for the duration of the consultancy contract. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Define a system development logic covering all system elements, up to the time of the handover of the last satellite to the Operations Department Prepare and maintain a detailed system development schedule in coordination with all subsystems and partners, together with a critical path analysis of each version of the schedule. Identify all interactions between subsystems and partners, and associate them with main system development milestones and the program work breakdown structure. Provide inputs to the sections of the System Development Plan concerning system development logic, schedule and interactions. Put into place a database of all interactions allowing their subsequent management. Prepare and maintain Interactions Documents defining all interactions between subsystems, together with their need dates. Interactions will cover such areas as Deliverables hardware, software, databases, documentation, algorithms, test data sets, tools, configuration statuses. Support mutual review support, joint test and operational rehearsals preparation and execution, test data analyses. Access to services, sites, facilities, infrastructure and interfaces. Follow up all subsystem developments and participate in any necessary meetings and reviews. Track progress against agreed development plans and Interaction Documents and signal any likely or identified deviations from these plans, together with proposals to reduce the impact of any delays. Provide regular summary reports on system development progress against the development schedule and the status of interactions. These activities will involve interactions with other EUMETSAT teams.
