EPSSG Satellite System Technical Requirements Coordinator

A new job opportunity has arisen for a Satellite System Technical Requirements Coordinator. As part of the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO you will be involved in supporting the phase B system engineering activities related to the specification, design and development of the satellite system. The support will focus on justification of the system design, establishing and maintaining system budgets. The typical tasks and responsibilities include to define and maintain the system specification tree and baseline, analyse new versions of lower level technical documents for coherence with system and incorporation into system baseline, to act as book captain for the System Requirements Document SRD to collate and analyse comments, proposed changes from internal and external reviews and making recommendations on newupdated requirements, to maintain the traceability of system requirements to higher and lower level specifications using DOORs, to provide support to establishment and documentation of an internal change control process for system requirements, to provide support for the preparation and execution of internal and external reviews, to prepare inputs for the Configuration Control Board CCB, to ensure system level technical specifications adhere to the configuration management plan CMP and the documentation of management plans DMP. All applicants should have experience of requirements management using formal configuration control proceduresprocesses and of writing technical requirements preferably to ECSS standards along with experience of establishing and maintaining traceability between different levels of technical specifications. Additional assets would be experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO and with DOORs. Applicants should beprepared to travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world. All candidates must have a University or similar degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent and be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Our client is seeking a Satellite System Interfaces Engineering Engineer to join the Satellite System Team in the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO and be involved in supporting the phase B system engineering activities related to the specification, design and development of the satellite system. The support will focus on justification of the system design, establishing and maintaining system budgets. The tasks and responsibilities include verify that all external system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model, verify that the major internal inter segment system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model, investigation of the best way to exploit the system model held in CORE tool from Vitech for interface definition. Implementation of any changes to the system model identified in order to aid the interface documentation, coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers, organisehold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish interface detailsagreements, generate and maintain Interface Requirement Documents IRDs for all system interfaces using DOORs, identify the mechanisms to be used for detailed ICD definition eg use of XML etc, generate and maintain the system Interface Control Documents ICD, provide support to general system engineering activities analysis and trade off activities, preparation and maintenance of system technical specification documentation of system design and justification, ad hoc internal reviews, system level formal reviews SRR, PDR, provide support to progress meetings, support IVV activities. All candidates should have experience of large space systems space andor ground segments and of interface management and definitions along with a demonstrated capability to prepare and manage IRD and ICD. Candidates should be familiar with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition. Additional assets would be experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO, CORE design tool Vitech and DOORs. All applicants should beprepared to travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world. JOB DESCRIPTION The work is related to the definition, specification and development of test tools and the generation of test data which are required to support system and ground segment VV activities. This may include inhouse development activities as well as the procurement of test tools test data sets from external entities. The focus of the tasks is on test tools test data needed for VV of chains for processing of instrument data. The selected keyperson would be a member of the EPSSG System Team in the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO at EUMETSAT. Responsibilities Duties Tasks The activities performed by the keyperson will be an input for the overall System and ground segment VV activities. The keyperson will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. Tools can serve for example the purpose of test data generation manipulation reformatting, test data injection into the ground segment and test data collection analysis. Typical tasks include Identification of the suite of test tools and test data required to support VV activities, and definition of development procurement approach and associated planning. Preparation of User Requirement Documents, Statements of Work, etc., as needed as input for development andor procurement activities. Support for inhouse development and validation of test tools and their maintenance. Support for procurements of test tools test data, including the analysis of received deliverables and attending acceptance tests. Support for acceptance of test tools test data provided by partners. Simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite instrument onground tests or inorbit operation. In case of tools to be connected to the ground segment, input for the specification and test of relevant interfaces. Support for configuration management of tools test data sets, using applicable EUMETSAT processes. Operation of the tools, or support for it, when used for system and ground segment VV activities. Contributions to the analysis of test results and the preparation of test reports. In addition the keyperson will be involved in some more general tasks Participation in relevant internal and external meetings. Regular review of System level documentation dealing with requirements, system concepts, architecture and design, technical analyses, to identify information of importance for test tools test data. In addition, and with the same aim, analysis of documents provided by other teams in EUMETSAT and by external partners. Support for the preparation of documentation for System level reviews, during the covered period the System Requirements Review and Preliminary Design Review. Some activities will involve interactions with other teams, primarily in the LEO division, and also, as relevant for the work, with engineers at partner agencies. Qualifications University degree in the domain of engineering, physics or equivalent. Required knowledge At least 5 years of general experience with the development of onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation. At least 5 years of direct involvement in VV activities for instrument processing chains, including production of test tools and of test data. At least 5 years of experience with software specification, design and development and relevant standards. Very good skills in higher programming languages, such as Fortran, CC, Java. Desirable Knowledge The keyperson shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French.
