Altice to sell stakes in French and Portuguese tower businesses for EUR 2.5 bln

(Telecompaper) Altice Europe has agreed to sell a 49.99 percent stake in its French tower business and a 75 percent stake in its Portuguese tower assets for a total cash consideration of EUR 2.5 billion. The deals, which have been in the making since the beginning of the year, deliver on the group's objective to reduce debt with the disposal of non-core operations.

Last week in telecoms: Altice makes a surprise jump and Iliad recovers

(Telecompaper) Last week, Altice was in the spotlights. It's share price was down 65 percent, but correcting for the Altice USA spin-off, there was in fact a 139 percent leap up from the previous week. Altice managed to bring the Telecompaper European telecoms index into positive territory (+0.3%), because without it the sector would have been marginally down (-0.1%). Altice may have been helped in performing this remarkable jump by news of Arcep's president no longer opposing market consolidation. The index outperformed the EuroStoxx 50 index (-1.6%).

Last week in telecoms: from Iliad down 22% to Altice up 10%

(Telecompaper) Last week was a bad week for telecoms stocks, with nearly all constituents of our European basket ending the week (#20) in the red. This included the heavyweights Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom, leading to a loss for our index of 4.2 percent, against a small 0.2 percent gain for the EuroStoxx 50 index. Worst performer was French operator Iliad. Competitor Altice was the week's biggest winner.
Altice Europe Q1 results still down slightly as customer growth improves

(Telecompaper) Altice has reported the first results for its new Altice Europe, to be created once the spin-off of Altice USA is completed next month. The figures show revenue flat year-on-year and EBITDA down slightly, while Altice said subscriber numbers were the best it's ever reported. The company also announced that the CEOs of its French business will also lead the new Altice Europe.
