Michigan farm, regulators defend manure spraying

A large southeastern Michigan dairy farm and the state's environmental regulators say the farm's practice of spraying manure on croplands is OK. The response from Hudson Dairy and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality comes after Environmentally Concerned Citizens of South Central Michigan recorded video of a truck spraying liquid manure this month.

Regulators Order Changes after 2013 Ice Storm

Michigan regulators are ordering the state's biggest utilities to trim trees more aggressively, provide the state with more detailed explanations for major outages and make it easier for customers to get credits on utility bills when they suffer losses due to outages. The Detroit Free Press reports the orders follow a yearlong investigation by the Michigan Public Service Commission following last winter's ice storm.

Regulators seek more information on Viasystems-TTM Technologies merger

The Federal Trade Commission has made a second request for information from Viasystems Group Inc. and California-based TTM Technologies , which agreed to acquire the Clayton-based company in September for $368 million. Viasystems said in a statement that the request, made under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 , would extend the waiting period imposed by the HSR Act until 30 days after the companies have complied with the FTC's request.
