Location ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany Description Spacecraft Operations Engineer in the Earth Observation Missions Division, Mission Operations Department, Directorate of Operations. The Earth Observation Missions Division is responsible for the design, implementation and operations of the flight operations ground segment and the satellite mission operations for all ESA Earth observation satellites and for the entrusted CopernicusSentinels missions, typically from start of phase B through inflight commissioning to routine mission operations until the end of mission. Duties The postholder will be initially assigned to the Cryosat2Swarm Spacecraft Operation Unit belonging to the Earth Observation Missions Division, with potential reassignment to other missions within the Division. The postholder will report to the responsible Spacecraft Operations Manager SOM. Technical competencies General background and specific experience in the technical domains covered by the position Good professional experience in spacecraft andor operational applications Experience with the design, development, maintenance and application of related operational and ground segment tools and methods such as Mission Control Systems, Operational simulators, etc. Experience with both Platform and Payload Operations as well as with development and maintenance of ground segments Behavioural Competencies Communication Teamwork Customer Focus Innovation Creativity Problem Solving Planning Organisation Education Applicants should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics. Our customer EUMETSAT is an independent intergovernmental organisation founded in 1986 to establish maintain and exploit European systems of operational meteorological satellites and to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. A further objective of EUMETSAT is to provide data, products and support services to the European Copernicus information services and user communities, with a focus on marine, atmosphere and climate. EUMETSAT is governed by a Council representing 30 Member States and 1 Cooperating State. Tasks The task of the candidate shall be to support Integration and Verification activities of the EUMETSAT Sentinel6JasonCS S6JCS Ground Segment and System and contributing to their Validation. Typical activities shall cover the following tasks Preparatory activities for the Integration and Verification Analysis of VCD. For the requirements to be verified by test, analysis and inspection, ensure the scope is in line with the expected scope and configuration of the S6JCS GS tranches and that the testing activities can be scheduled within the foreseen timeframe Observation and analysis of IV activities performed as part of the GS procurements Maintenance of the existing integration and verification test specifications and generation of additional ones as needed Maintenance of existing test tools and test data, as well as development of additional test tools if necessary and the tuningmodification of test data Based on initial test specifications and other relevant documents lower level test docs, user manuals, etc write detailed test procedures By successive iterations refine the test procedures until they are in a status ready to be executed.
