Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced LEO Spacecraft Operations Engineer Consultant. You shall work in the Operations and Services to Users Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team, where depending on the level of experience, skills and overall team needs, responsibility will be taken for the operations of inorbit subsystems andor instruments, as well as for the operations preparation and operational conduct of inorbit verification for those subsystems and instruments on the MetopC satellite. Furthermore, this may also include support to the onboard software management, simulator configuration, automation of routine analysis or other activities included within the scope of activities of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The right person will establish effective working interfaces with the satellite operations activities of other operations engineers and analysts, and external teams responsible for mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, you shall support system and operations preparation activities for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for JasonCS Sentinel6. Responsibilities The tasks will typically include Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B Provision of operational expertise to platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition of additional automated analysis and checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. Participate in MetopC Satellite InOrbit Verification Testing. This is a fulltime position at EUMETSATs facilities in Darmstadt, Germany with a planned starting date ASAP. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you shall have a demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills Spacecraft monitor and control operations Spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language.
