For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer fm Tasks The primary area of responsibility is the Aeolus payload chain, including the preparation and validation of the FOP, commissioning plan and payload operations mission planning. The Engineer may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general Spacecraft Opeartions Engineer services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. The successful candidate will be primarily assigned to a particular mission within the Earth Observation Mission family but with the possibility of supporting other missions within this family. The general activities to be supported by this service are Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Mission Management and Mission Planning Support Service Production of Project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test SVT Procedures, Reports and Participation in SVTs Participation in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and Mission Critical Operations Preparation of and Participation in the Commissioning Phase. General Flight Control Support Service Spacecraft Performance Analysis Essential requirements Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, with emphasis on the Payload Hands on familiarity with operational tools MCS, Simulator, DB browser, MOIS or equivalent tool Handson familiarity in SVT and flight procedures development Ability to work in an organised manner, with good reporting skills and reliable deadline meeting Coordination skills with internal Flight Control Team, and external ESRIN payload data centre, Satellite developer, simulator developer parties Fluency in English Desirable requirements Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites, including basic mission analysis and payload observation scheduling aspects Familiarity with the basic usage of orbit and environment analysis tools e.g. STK Other Information Start date July 2016
