Summary An exciting opportunity for an experienced System Engineer to work for Telespazio VEGA onsite at ESTEC. Objective To provide support to the TECSYE Systems and Concurrent Engineering Section with system engineering modeling and the development of tools and methods for the Concurrent Design Facility CDF. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but are not limited to The postholder will provide support to the section activities in the areas of systems and concurrent engineering. In addition, support to the development and implementation of ModelBased System Engineering MBSE, system engineering modeling and support of concurrent engineering tools methods. The activities will be in the area of System engineering Tools and infrastructure maintenance development to support system and concurrent engineering modeling including OCDT Methods, tools and standards to support MBSE System engineering support to projects in particular related to MBSE Qualifications Experience A PhD or MSc or equivalent qualification in an engineering or technology related discipline A background in a wide range of technologies relevant to space and experience in space projects and technology development Experience in multidisciplinary system modeling, using SysML or comparable modeling languages as well as supporting tools Experience in requirements and verification engineering. For our customer in Darmstadt we are looking for a System Engineer in Data Processing to support current and future Earth observation missions, in particular the Sentinel6 JasonCS Mission Our customer EUMETSAT is an independent intergovernmental organisation founded in 1986 to establish maintain and exploit European systems of operational meteorological satellites and to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. A further objective of EUMETSAT is to provide data, products and support services to the European Copernicus information services and user communities, with a focus on marine, atmosphere and climate. EUMETSAT is governed by a Council representing 30 Member States and 1 Cooperating State. The candidate shall provide engineering services to the Jason CS Ground Segment Data processing team as well as to the Operations department in the frame of maintenance and evolution of the current operational data processing systems. In addition the candidate shall support activities related to phases CD of the Jason CS Programme in the area of data processing engineering The candidate would be part of the Data Processing Systems and Applications Group, composed of approximately 35 people, which is responsible for providing support to The full engineering lifecycle of future data processing systems and applications for programmes under development Maintenance and evolution of data processing systems and applications for existing programmes System engineering of Level 0 data reception and decommutation System engineering of Level 1 and Level 2 processing as regards interfaces, processing frameworks and infrastructure, SW releases preparation Maintenance and evolution of Data Quality Control QC, CalVal and Reprocessing facilities. Tasks The task of the candidate shall be to support system engineering activities related to phases CE of the Jason CS programme in the area of data processing engineering. In detail, the Engineer shall Contribute to the procurement of data processing elements by advising on technical solutions Contribute to the management of the requirements baseline for data processing elements Contribute to the review of product generation specifications for Level0, Level 1 and Level 2 processors. Contribute to refinement of ICDs Contribute to testing, integration and acceptance of data processing elements. Contribute to maintenance and evolution activities, In addition, there will be regular involvement in the following tasks requiring interaction and coordination with other teams at System and Ground Segment level Review of System, Space Segment and Ground Segment documentation dealing with requirements, concepts, L0L1L2 algorithms and technical analyses of relevance for data processing Participation in formal reviews and technical meetings at System and Ground Segment level. Review of documentation dealing with technical evolutions of the infrastructure Profile Mandatory Attributes, Skills and Experience In addition to having a University degree in the engineering, physics, or software or similar domains the key persons shall have the following mandatory attributes, skills, and experience experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems for Earth Observation missions experience on data processing for high data rates missions will be considered an asset. Relevant experience with L0L1L2 processing software for Earth Observation missions, either for operationsmaintenance or specification and development. Knowledge of the requirements engineering process, including relation between requirements, ICDs, design and testing documentation. Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of future earth observation missions. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context. Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams. The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. The key persons shall have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan their work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. The key persons shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. The working language for the position is English and therefore the person must be able to work effectively in this language.
