The location for this position is on one of the major sites of our client in Southern Germany. Airbus DS is one of the key players in the European satellite and launcher industries. At the Immenstaad site around 2500 people are employed, working on space and defence projects. The space division is specialized in Earth Observation, Navigation and Science. In this position as Junior Development Engineer Payload System Simulation, you will be responsible for design, prototyping and analysis of algorithms. The list of tasks is as following Tasks and Responsibilities Design, prototyping and analysis of algorithms for the gemoetric, radiometric and spectral processing of remote sensing data from spaceborn instruments imager, radar, sounder Support definition, implementation and use of simulation models to generate representative data for the analysis of these algorithms, covering the scene of observation, the instrument signal path and the relevant satellite characteristics Support establishment of specifications for the operational processing of satellite remote sensing data Requirements Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or comparable field. Within the Ground Segment System Engineering Competence Area GSSE CA of the System Engineering and Projects Division SEP the Junior System Engineer will support the management of requirements, design, development and implementation of ground segments of EUMETSAT endtoend satellite systems, in an approach enabling continuity of operations and control of evolutions. The initial focus will be on developing capabilities to reach full proficiency in the area of ground system engineering and knowledge of EUMETSAT operational ground segments. DUTIES Participate in the system engineering processes for managing engineering requirements through the lifecycle of ground segments, using formal methods and tools e.g. DOORS for maintenance, traceability, verification and validation of requirements Support the technical analysis of the architecture and specifications of major upgrades of ground segments, in order to ensure coherence and compatibility with other ongoing developments and identify impacts on baseline technical documentation Contribute to maintaining the architecture of the overall EUMETSAT ground segment through the assessment of relevant technologies and design options, based on a Model Based System Engineering approach Support the definition of the Integration Verification Validation IVV approach and the related tests for evolutions of existing systems and installation of new systems Support the maintenance of a complete and consistent set of system level documentation. For our customer in Darmstadt we are looking for a System Interface Engineer to support the forthcoming EPSSG European Polar System Second Generation Earth observation mission. Our customer EUMETSAT is an independent intergovernmental organisation founded in 1986 to establish maintain and exploit European systems of operational meteorological satellites and to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. A further objective of EUMETSAT is to provide data, products and support services to the European Copernicus information services and user communities, with a focus on marine, atmosphere and climate. The EPSSG System Engineer will be supporting the EUMETSATs Low Earth Orbit Division LEO in the field of system engineering.
