Main responsibilities The candidate shall provide service to the activities of ground segment developments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications. In doing this, the candidate shall support The follow up of the detailed design and development activities of Phase CD of the future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications mainly for supporting EPS SG activities Engineering activities of Phase B of future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications The maintenance and evolution in phase E to the other programmes within EUMETSAT MSG, EPS, Jason, in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations. Ideal candidate Essentials The candidate shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks. Heshe shall have, as a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 5 years. This experience shall include in particular Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TT C Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for mission specific andor satellite communications ground stations TT C baseband equipment and SLE compliant implementations Technical background in the specification and V V of ground stations and large antennas and tracking systems for GEO and LEO satellites Knowledge of modulationdemodulation schemes applied by Ground to Space ICD for TTC and payload data transmission e.g. ECSS and CCSDS Standards. Desirables In addition, the knowledge and experience of the following processesareas is considered as an asset Competence and experience in the engineering processes for managing requirements from the definition phase through the traceability, verification, validation and maintenance stages using formal methods and tools e.g. DOORs Design and requirements engineering of large and complex Earth Observation related ground stations Usage of High Data Rate Demodulators System experience with Link budget analysis and tools in S, X and Ka Band. Standard RF and microwave tools and SW package for generation of signal processing related simulations andor semiautomated measurement procedures. The candidate shall be in possession of sound organisational and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and without supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. PRODEX is an optional programme devoted to the development of scientific instruments and experiments for space science missions. The development may involve industry andor scientific institutes and may cover either a full instrument or instrument contributionssubsystems. Duties Reporting to the Head of the PRODEX Office or his Deputy, the postholder will be in charge of implementing a number of PRODEX activities, with emphasis on instrument hardware development. Duties include being the focal point for technical and administrative interfaces between PRODEX experimenters and the Technical Support Manager establishing the overall work programme for the development of PRODEX experiments within the scientific institutes in line with the relevant delegations instructions being responsible for monitoring the technical, schedule and financial status of experiment development, identifying potential problem areas and proposing remedial action assisting, in coordination with scientific institutes, with preparing tender documents, participating in proposal evaluations, preparing the information required for contract negotiations and subsequently monitoring the endtoend development of projectsactivities contracted to industrial consortia liaising between the relevant scientific institutes and industry for the duration of the contracts interfacing internally with ESA project teams or specialists on technicalprogrammatic matters and with the relevant financial and procurement experts on financial and contractual matters.
