NEMA published NEMA SBP 4-2015 Low Frequency Audible Signals, which addresses need for and development of low-frequency audible signal used in fire alarms, CO alarms, and fire or CO alarm systems. Developed by the Fire, Life Safety, Security, and Emergency Communication Section, document addresses why low-frequency signal is needed, difference between low-frequency signal and standard audible fire alarm signal, and when and where low frequency signal is required.

NEMA welcomes USTR announcement on ITA expansion.

NEMA welcomed announcement by U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman that agreement had been reached among leading countries to expand scope of World Trade Organization’s Information Technology Agreement. According to announcement, product list including MRI and CT units as well as other specific products of interest to NEMA manufacturers has been provisionally agreed by participating governments. Under ITA, willing WTO member countries agree to eliminate their own tariffs on list of products.

NEMA has published NEMA ICS 10-2015, Part 4 Guide to Application of Low-voltage Automatic Transfer Switch Equipment. This application guide was created to bring attention to National Electrical Code® and Underwriters Laboratories guidelines regarding new labeling requirements. Developed by 1IS SC16 Technical Committee, guide provides clarification on new marking requirements to specifiers, purchasers, authorities having jurisdiction, and installers.

NEMA reaffirmed NEMA CS 3.1-2009 Guide for the Application, Handling, Storage, Installation, and Maintenance of Medium-Voltage AC Contactors, Controllers, and Control Centers. Guide applies to AC medium voltage contactors and Class E controllers rated 1,501-15,000 volts, installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, and manufacturer’s instructions. Publication is useful to architects, electrical engineers, electrical contractors, maintenance engineers.
