Cotton prices have last week further collapsed before suddenly recovering on Friday, over the rumor of an imminent trade agreement between China and the United States. Prices could, however, continue to fall in New York, before rebounding when short speculators will take their profits. We have below added a new table with average rates in the last months in New York, including in month-to-date. Our weekly cotton report covers the futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Spun yarn prices have further fallen in the past seven days in China, over a weakness in demand. Seasonal trends should now favor spinners, however, as inventories also need to be replenished, and yarn import prices are not very competitive. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared.
