Exporters continue suffering from the relatively higher level of Indian cotton prices in dollar terms. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester, and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centers are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Cotton prices have stayed at the same low level for the last two months on the international market, pressured by anticipations of larger production in the next season, especially in India. Spun polyester prices are now falling in China, in line with the return of polyester staple fiber prices to lower levels. Yarn import prices are more competitive with demand for foreign yarns recovering. Cotton yarn imports have surged from Uzbekistan, as reflected by our May import data. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared.
