China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton yarn prices have slightly risen in the past seven days in China, at least for specific counts and market locations, after wages have been raised at spinning mills in post-holiday period. Demand remains however very depressed from processors, if compared with previous years. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cotton yarn prices have stayed unchanged in the past week in India where cotton fiber prices are now bottoming out over a sharp increase of Chinese demand. Other yarn prices have dropped in Tirupur and Bhiwandi as a resuult of a weak demand whereas being frozen in Ludhiana. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.
