Cotton futures have rebounded in the past week in New York, with investors anticipating large Chinese buying after a trade agreement will have been signed between Washington and Beijing. The first USDA data covering the coming season have however reflected a rise in global ending stocks, as a clear sign that prices will not rise over the long term and whatever short-term volatility. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". India Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)

Yarn prices have stopped rising in India after being significantly increased in the past weeks. Cotton prices have also stabilized after sharply falling in the past three months. Cotton exports are however expected dropping this year whereas imports would be supported by the fall of prices on the international market. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

Yarn prices have not moved in China where production is very slowly returning to normal after the end of lunar year holidays. Yarn import prices have been kept unchanged in the meantime, in absence of clear trends for the coming period. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
