Yarn prices have stopped rising in India after being significantly increased in the past weeks. Cotton prices have also stabilized after sharply falling in the past three months. Cotton exports are however expected dropping this year whereas imports would be supported by the fall of prices on the international market. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

Cotton prices have sharply declined at the start of last week, over bearish data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and an overall drop of commodity prices. Fiber use could be depressed by the global economic slowdown and falling apparel retail sales in the United States and in Europe. Orange sees small slowdown in EBITDA growth in 2019 on tough French, Spanish markets

(Telecompaper) Orange said it expects a small slowdown in EBITDA growth this year, from 2.7 percent comparable growth in 2018, due to tough competition in France and Spain. The company still expects to maintain its dividend at 70 cents per share, thanks to continued growth in operating cash flow and lower capital expenditure in 2019.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Yarn prices have not moved in China where production is very slowly returning to normal after the end of lunar year holidays. Yarn import prices have been kept unchanged in the meantime, in absence of clear trends for the coming period. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
